This screen shows while the class gets ready. Begin when everyone is settled.

In class you step through it on your laptop. Here, Play can run it for you. Sound adds a soft tone the real Bite doesn’t have.

What is an Orli Bite?

A five-minute activity with an Orli, for the start of the day, after lunch or before a test. Children can join in, watch or pass.

  • About five minutes

Orla’s welcome, six slow breaths (four seconds in, four out, no holds) and a moment to notice.

  • What you need

A comfortable place to sit or stand. Orlis to hold, if you have them.

  • Ways to join in

Hold an Orli, follow the screen, or watch or pass. Normal breathing is always fine.

  • Keep in mind

Never require deep breaths, holds, closed eyes or matching the screen. Stop if anyone is uncomfortable.

The whole Bite

  1. Ready

The board shows the Bite’s card while the class settles, then a note to read together:

“What is an Orli Bite? A short activity to help you change how you feel. Use one when your feelings feel too big. Come back to it as a class, or on your own.”

  2. Meet your Orli

Orla speaks, one line at a time:

    • “Hello, I’m Orla. Would you like a little breathing pause with me?”
    • “You can hold your Orli, trace with a finger or simply watch.”
    • “Follow the gentle rise and fall only if comfortable. Your normal breathing is always okay.”
  3. Try together

“Follow Orla’s gentle rise and fall, or watch while breathing normally.”

Ways to join in: Hold an Orli, Follow the screen or Watch or pass. Then six slow breaths on Orla’s pond: four seconds in, four seconds out, no holds, and a short rest.

On your laptop: Model holding an Orli comfortably or tracing the rise and fall with a finger. Never require deep breaths, holds, closed eyes or matching the screen. Stop if uncomfortable. Follow individual support plans; seek adult support if someone feels unwell.

  4. Notice

“Would you choose to try this pause again?” Think quietly, share if you want to, or pass.

On your laptop: Invite a brief thought, a gesture or a pass. Pupils do not need to feel different or explain a personal experience.

  5. Complete

“Well done! You’ve completed Breathe with Orla.” Orla: “A little pause, in your own way.” You can use this Orli Bite again whenever you need it.
